Long Run

TLM and I went out for a 5 mile run this morning, he said something about being lazy yesterday and needing to get it in today.  He said something about Monday being a rest day, I think that if I didn't stand on his chest, lick his face and whine at him, he probably would have skipped this one too...That's my job, keeping him honest!

The run was pretty uneventful, with lots of good sniffs, we even saw the kids getting on the school bus, I heard a few ahhs, look at the puppy...I'm a bit offended since I am 4-years-old.  Sheesh!

Drizzly run....

TLM and I went for a run this morning and got caught in the rain.

I had to keep stopping to shake my ears...TLM said we needed to head back, so we cut it a little short.

What are these Interval things anyway

So this morning TLM and I went for our morning run.  He seemed a bit anxious and kept looking at his watch.  Something about doing intervals, I have no idea what they are, but we warmed up, then we went fast, then we slowed down, then we went fast, then slow then fast again, before taking a nice easy jog back home.

TLM  let me get my usual sniffs and marks in while I checked pee-mail, just not when it was time to go fast...doesn't he know you gotta take time to sniff the tall grass and leave your mark?

Well, we got home, and I ate my breakfast, now it's nap time, TLM's lap looks like it needs to be warmed up...

Morning Run Stats

This morning, Two-legged man (TLM) and I got our morning run in with a nice route around the neighborhood.

There were plenty of sniffs, I caught up on my pee-mail, and left a few replies.  TLM was a little annoyed that some people in this neighborhood were out with their dogs off leash.  He's very concerned for my safety and adjusts the route so we don't run into any problems with unknown dogs.  Truthfully, though, I'm not sure what I would do if a bigger dog started to mess with me, I have been known to get feisty when the younger Terv gets all up in my face.

Here are the stats on the run:

My two-footed running man finally decided to let me use the computer

I know some of you follow my running exploits on my two-footed running man's blog over at http://xxviiir.blogspot.com/

The running man and I have been trying to figure out how I was going to provide running advice to my four-footed running friends out there.   He seems to want to only talk about what he does on his runs, but seems to forget that I too, am on the run on the other side of the leash.  I'll lick his face until he lets me post the times from the Garmin on this blog.

I have no stats from any recent runs, since the running man was traveling on business last week.  He says he will start his training for his first race this week.  Enough about him this blog is mine...

I am an 4-year-old, 18-pound Rat Terrier/Dachshund mix and live in a house with two Belgian Tervurens, some cats and a couple of turtles.  Before I lived with my running man, I lived on a nearby horse farm and was acquired from the local SPCA to as a barn dog alongside a Basset Hound that also came from the SPCA.  I loved working on the horse farm, but I had this little problem, I liked to run off down the road and not stay on the farm.  My boss lady, who is a friend of my running man's family asked him if I could come live with his family.

Fortunately for me, the running man said yes.  I quickly assimilated into the family and am a sucker for chasing tennis balls.  Not long after, I looked up at the running man when he laced up his shoes and whined until he put my harness on and took me for a run around the neighborhood.  I remember this one time, we went for a run in the morning of about 7 miles or so, then a bunch of kids came over to the house and threw the tennis balls for me for about  hours.  The next day, I was one pooped pup!

Over the last three years, I have put in a few hundred miles with the running man and he is careful not to take me any further than about 7 or 8 miles.  I really get amped up, when I see him pull out his running shorts or hear the beep when he turns on the Garmin.  I was born to run!

Since this week is the beginning of Spring Training for the Running Man, keep coming back for updates on our progress.
